Dr. Michael Rice, State Superintendent of the Michigan Department of Education, leads a group of state leaders in a discussion of how Michigan is promoting state-wide SEL implementation. The presentation includes a focus on early childhood learning, secondary opportunities for students, and a commitment to improving students’ post-graduation performance.
The presenters provide a detailed synthesis of a range of cross-functional partnerships and programs, including the Michigan SEL and Children’s Mental Health Network, use of federal grant funding to promote SEL, a state-level School Improvement Framework and SEL-Academic Crosswalks, and suggestions for SEL resource supports as well as long-term professional development.
