This overview of the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) assigns 50% of the rating to teacher performance on standards and 50% on student growth measures. It also includes a four-tier final summative rating system: Accomplished, Skilled, Developing, and Ineffective.
Teacher Performance on Standards include the following components: (1) final summative ratings; (2) mid-year review and conference; and (3) final review and conference. The evaluation system includes the use of Professional Growth Plans, Improvement Plans (when needed), formal observations and walk-throughs, conferences, and formal write-ups.
Student Growth Measures include a range of factors, including teacher-level value-added performance and approved vendor assessment teacher-level data.
